The Good Samaritan Center, Inc. is a non-profit social service organization that assists families and individuals in emergency situations. It is funded by churches, private contributions, and fundraising.
The Good Samaritan Center was started in 1972 under the direction and financial support of seven Jackson, Mississippi churches. The Good Samaritan Center has grown to include an agency with two offices (Jackson and Laurel, MS). The Good Samaritan Center fields emergency requests from over ten central Mississippi counties and operates the only soup kitchen in Jones County
The mission of The Good Samaritan Center is to help families and individuals overcome economic and social disadvantage by providing nurture, support, and empowerment; especially but not exclusively, as it focuses on assisting in emergency crisis situations.
